FAQ

What equipment to bring?

Rubber boots or hiking shoes, hiking socks for hot climate, dark clothes, light rain jacket, dry bag, large metal water bottle, backpack, external battery. If you are planing to join the Talamanca expedition, plan some warm clothes for the night and a set of clothes for each day.

What will we detect in the camera traps?

Our camera trap network can detect nearly every terrestrial species, from the most common to the rarest. This includes pumas, tapirs, peccaries, ocelots, margays, oncillas, jaguarundis, anteaters, tayras, terrestrial birds, and, on fortunate days, even jaguars. However, please be aware that detections are not guaranteed, as various hazards such as technical issues, adverse weather conditions, or even camera trap theft can occur.

What’s the probabilty to observe a jaguar in person?

Jaguars are rare and elusive animals, therefore crossing their path is extremely rare. However, on some occasions, encounters may occur. Although jaguars are not agressive, it is important to have the right behavior. You will be briefed by our team upon arrival about wildcats and other wildlife encounters.

Will I have time to enjoy the wildlife encountered along the way?

While the primary focus of the expedition is not wildlife observation, we will take the time to stop and enjoy any significant sightings. These expeditions are always an opportunity to experience exceptional wildlife encounters.
